BERKELEY LAUNCHES HARD CHROME PUMP SHAFTS

May 17, 2010

DELAVAN, WI — May 17, 2010 — To complement its successful line of BERKELEY® submersible turbine pumps, Pentair Flow Technologies is introducing Hard Chrome Shafts for the BERKELEY 6T and 7T models. The Hard Chrome Shafts are an optional upgrade from standard stainless steel shafts, and are specifically designed to perform in abrasive well conditions.

50-Hour Sand Slurry Tests

Corrosive, ultra-fine silt can significantly reduce the service life of submersible pumps, the results of which can be replicated in testing labs. “In 50-hour sand slurry tests, our Hard Chrome Shafts consistently outperform traditional stainless steel” said Jim Hughes, Vertical Marketing Manager for Pentair Flow Technologies. “BERKELEY Hard Chrome Shafts have a low coefficient of friction and are plated with .006” chrome, at a 65-79 Rockwell Hardness C, making them significantly harder than stainless steel. This gives them excellent resistance against the wearing, pitting and grooving that you often see when stainless steel shafts are exposed to well water with high concentrations of sand.” And excellent resistance means a longer service life, improved performance, and less down-time in the field.
BERKELEY 6T and 7T submersible turbines with optional Hard Chrome Shafts are available through a network of more than 5,000 authorized dealers throughout North America. More information on the hard chrome shafts, including where to buy, is available at www.berkeleypumps.com.
