BERKELEY LAUNCHES A NEW SERIES OF HIGH FLOW/HIGH EFFICIENCY PUMPS

August 2, 2010

DELAVAN, WI — August 2, 2010 — To complement its full line of Berkeley® brand pumps, motors and controls, Pentair Water is introducing a high efficiency/high flow series of 4” and 5” discharge centrifugal irrigation pumps. These pumps are designed for low pressure flood or drip irrigation and water features and they boast the industry’s best efficiencies:
  • 4” discharge BEP (Best Efficiency Point) at 83% (800 GPM at 74’ head)
  • 5” discharge BEP at 85% (1,200 GPM at 73’ head)

Incorporates Top Industry Features

These pumps are available in a variety of drive configurations, including close-coupled motor drive, frame mount and SAE engine drive. The oversized shaft and bearing system on the SAE and frame mount versions, along with the double volute design, provides bearing life in excess of 20,000 hours. Open Drip Proof, 3-phase, 230/460V is the standard motor for close-coupled motor drive configurations with TEFC, premium efficient and 575V options available. The pumps are offered with a packaged box design or carbon-ceramic/Buna mechanical seals. Silicon-carbide/Viton seals are also available. Like all other Berkeley Type-B centrifugal pumps, these new models have a back pull-out design that significantly reduces maintenance downtime.

“Our voice of the customer research told us that not only did we need to incorporate the top pump features to increase reliability, we also needed to have the best efficiencies in the industry for these pump sizes” said Jim Hughes, vertical marketing manager for Pentair Water. “Our customers expect reliability and performance, and once again, Berkeley delivers.”

Berkeley Pumps are available through a network of more than 5,000 authorized dealers throughout North America. More information on the high efficiency/high flow pump, including where to buy, is available at www.berkeleypumps.com.
